Stats

I finished 7,782 out of 32,794 (+1 Lloyd Scott in his suit of armour with dragon in tow, expected to finish in 8 days!)

Splits:

6.25 miles - 52:26
12.5 miles - 01:43:31
13.1 miles - 01:49:14
18.75 miles - 02:36:43
25.0 miles - 03:32:47
26.2 miles - 03:45:39

My average min/mile after 18.75 was around 9.3 min/mile. Plus I did the last 1.2 miles in nearly 13 mins. Amazing when you think the elite runners are running consistent 5 min miles all the way round!

Some of the official photos have been posted on the Net...they're only sample sizes I'm afraid. That's me with the cap on!

Done it!

26.2 miles - 3 hrs 45 mins 39 secs (8.61 min/mile)

Results confirmation

What a great day, perfect conditions for running (not for spectating!). The actual race far exceeded my expectations with regards to how I’d manage towards the end. Although the last couple of miles were very painful, I managed to keep going and finished with a great time. I’d hoped for under 4 hours which I did quite comfortably.

My mate Rob was a little disappointed as he’d pulled up towards the end when his knee gave way...he managed to finish though in a time of 4:08:45.

The whole experience was incredible. The support all along the route is very uplifting especially towards the end when you really need it.

Would I do it again? Well if the thought of those last few miles are soon forgotten...who knows.

It looks like we may well have raised over £2000 for the Hospice, which is great news.

By the way I also just beat Gordon Ramsay (3:46:10)...someone should have shouted 'he's behind you!'

For Mark

I wanted to put something on the blog before Sunday about Mark Loveday.

As I’ve said before I wanted to run the marathon for the hospices and in memory of Mark, who passed away nearly 5 years ago to the day.

Mark was not only my brother-in-law but also a great friend. We did so much together, much like brothers.

I know he would be very proud of what I’ve accomplished.

This is for him, for how much he meant to me and to so many others.

It's All Over

4 miles - 33 mins (8.25 min/mile)

The training that is!

That’s it now...no more running until Sunday (unless we’re late for our train on Friday)

We’re making a weekend of it. Train down on Friday morning, Marathon Expo in the afternoon for registration and whatever freebies I can pick up. On Saturday it’s my daughter’s birthday so we’re going on the London Eye followed by Pizza Express for some last minute carbs.

Don’t forget to look out for my number on Sunday:

Run

4.2 miles - 33 mins (7.86 min/mile)

Why is it still so cold? Woolly hat and gloves on this morning - surely it’s got to change soon.

Run

6 miles - 50 mins (8.33 min/mile)

Paula may be out but I'm still on course thankfully....with now less than 3 weeks to go. Also confirmed today that my Mum and Dad will be down for the weekend, so with Jane and the kids being there and her Mum and Dad that's quite a lot of support - which is great news.

Paula's Out

It has just been announced that Paula Radcliffe will not be running in the London Marathon. Her recent foot injury has not improved enough for her to be able to run.

Weekend Running Part 2

13 miles - 1 hr 46 mins (8.15 min/mile)

The weather beat me today. I was feeling great at about 10 and was going to go on and do about 18 until the driving wind and rain became too much. Hope the weather is a bit kinder on the 23rd April.
