New Shoes

Got my latest running shoes from wiggle.co.uk - Hopefully these will be the ones I use in London. Will see how they break-in over the coming weeks.

Holidays and Running

Enjoyed a few good runs whilst away this past week over Christmas. We spent a few days with family down in the village of Caldecott in the county of Rutland. The countryside around Rutland is lovely even at this time of the year. I love the adventure of going out running along country lanes through picturesque villages with thatched cottages and not really knowing where I’m going!

The cottage we were staying in only had a couple of showers so I missed my baths at the end of my runs. You can’t beat a hot bath at the end of a long run!

Run

9.5 miles – 79 mins (8.32 min/mile)

Cold morning, had to wrap up well! Rob was with me this morning...he finished much better than me. We're taking it easy in the run-up to Christmas - all systems go in the new year!

Go!

Well this is it. A new Blog to track my progress (and my running mate Rob Neale) as we prepare for the London Marathon in April 2006.

As well as achieving a great personal goal of mine it will also be a fantastic opportunity to raise lots of money for a worthy cause – Help the Hospices, in particular our local Ashgate Hospice here in Chesterfield.

Hospices do an incredible work of which we’ve had experience of in recent years following the death of my brother-in-law Mark Loveday. We spent a number of weeks with him in the local hospice down in Gravesend, Kent. My eyes were well and truly opened to the wonderful care they provide.

The London Marathon will be run on 23rd April 2006...almost 5 years to the day since Mark passed away.
