Weekend Running

7.5 miles - 62 mins (8.27 min/mile)

Glad to be out this morning after a bit of a scare in the week. My right foot felt a little sprained on Wednesday, but after a bit of ice and elevation it soon cleared up. I should expect this as we get closer to the big one...but I must be careful not to overdo it!

Hills

13 miles – 108 mins (8.31 min/mile)

A couple of big hills this morning. One really tough one going up and then there was Bolsover hill coming down. The tough hill was about a mile long, on the road between Sutton Scarsdale and Palterton. It starts off long and winding and then there are several sharp inclines at the end which really hurt the lungs!

The question is which is the tougher, ascending or descending hills? Well that depends on the hill, but coming down really does put stress on the knees and ankles...especially the Bolsover hill. Apparently Seb Coe's Dad, during his coaching, used to drive him to the bottom of hills to reduce the damaging effect of downhill running.
