On This Day

Today marks the anniversary of the first ever London Marathon, back in 1981. Amazingly back then just 6,700 ran whereas now over 30,000 run the event.

Weekend Running Part 2

19 miles - 2 hrs 40 mins (8.42 min/mile)

Not quite 20 but pretty good anyway. Rob was with me this morning - this will be our last big run before London. I think we’re just about there.

Weekend Running

6 miles - 49 mins (8.17 min/mile)

Out on my own this morning, Rob had to stay at home due to family illness. Hopefully he'll be there in the morning.

Run

6 miles - 50 mins (8.33 min/mile)

Out last night...it seems to be getting warmer, thank goodness!

My new shoes (Asics Gel GT 2100) appear to have settled down now. Had a small blister early last week which is unusual for me but I had recently swapped over to them as my New Balance pair had begun to wear down quite a bit.

Pretty good this morning...nice and easy. We're aiming for a big one next Sunday and then easing down after that. Just 5 weeks to go!

Weekend Running

7 miles - 57 mins (8.14 min/mile)

Feeling good this morning. Rob was with me. He'd done the Banbury 15 last Sunday in a really good time, 1:55 - which is at the 7.66 min/mile pace. Looking good for London!

We've both had our numbers through for London. My number is 33964 and Rob is around the 7000 mark. This will be due to my late entry through the 'golden bond' system. At the moment this means we have different starting points which is a little disappointing as we were planning on running it together. I will be making enquiries over the next few weeks about the possibility of us starting together.

Run

5 miles - 41 mins (8.2 min/mile)

Out last night...at last! Feeling so much better now after my bout of cold. Everything was working well so should be back on track now.

Slight Setback

Unfortunately my training plans for this past week have had to be put on hold as I've had a bad head cold. Not worth the risk of trying to keep up the intensity whilst having a cold or I could be really knocked for six, especially with only 6 weeks to go.

I've not done anything until this morning (feeling much better today)....just an hour in the gym. Treadmill and step machine work. Plus it's snowing outside!

Weekend Running Part 2

14 miles - 119 mins (8.5 min/mile)

Nice and steady this morning. Left shin felt a little sore towards the end so slowed right down. Best keep my eye on that as I had a shin splint problem last year on my right leg...not nice!

Weekend Running

7.25 mile - 60 mins (8.28 min/mile) This morning

6 miles - 48 mins (8 min/mile) Thursday

A couple of recent runs, including this morning. Rob was with me today...we had to go careful as there was a thin layer of snow on the ground. Stuck to the clear road as often as we could.
